Open-mid, back, rounded, oral vowel. During the articulation:
- the tongue is back, somewhat raised, and slightly convex or flat,
- the lower teeth stay away from the upper teeth but a little closer than with [a],
- the lips move slightly forward and get rounded,
- the soft palate lies not very tightly against the back of the pharynx.
